The Allentown Garden Club has decorated Drumthwacket's stately dining
room with a colorful and fanciful bird theme to symbolize and
celebrate New Jersey's pride, beauty, dignity and diversity this
holiday season.
Overall, the decor is simple, classical elegance, inspired by the
original colors and strong architectural elements of the room. The
color palette includes opal, white, crystal, pearl, sage, gold with
hints of teal and navy that complement the exquisite wallpaper and
oriental carpet. Feathers, candles and garden elements mixed with
traditional decorations of holiday greens, pinecones and a Christmas
tree, create a lively and festive environment.
The grand and stately table has been set with Drumthwacket's formal
dinnerware and historic silver collection for an enjoyable holiday
meal hosted by Tammy Murphy, First Lady of New Jersey. The
distinguished guest list for this holiday dinner party includes past
and present residents of the state, who, through their talents,
actions and diverse contributions, are a celebrated source of New
Jersey pride. If you were invited to join our 'fantasy' dinner party
at Drumthwacket, who would you sit next to, and more importantly, what
would you discuss?
Some highlights of the room were:
--The amazing peacock tails draping off the two mantels
--The stunning centerpiece created by member Alison Mains
--Assorted ornament creations and terrariums/birdhouses
--Names of ten women with their contributions to NJ highlighted at
each place setting, plus a place 'for you' to have a seat at the
table.
--A framed photo of the St. Peter's Men's Basketball Team 'The
Peacocks' during their recent visit to Drumthwacket
And so much more!
